The funeral has taken place in Cork of Chris Crowley, who shot his daughter Deirdre before turning the gun on himself. The shootings occurred in Clonmel last Thursday.
The Parish Priest, Fr Michael Riordan, told mourners that Mr Crowley had been motivated by tremendous love. He said that some might say that love was excessive but that was not for him to judge.
Among those who attended the funeral Mass was Christine O'Sullivan, the mother of six-year-old Deirdre. The Crowley family thanked people who had been supportive and expressed their profound grief at the loss of Mr Crowley and Deirdre.
Earlier on local radio in Cork, Chris Crowley's sister-in-law, Angela, said that he had acted out of love. Chris Crowley was buried following a private ceremony.
