France and Germany have begun moves at the United Nations to press for a worldwide ban on human cloning. The two countries have asked UN Secretary General, Kofi Annan, to put the issue on the agenda for the next General Assembly meeting, which starts next month.
The move comes a day after a group of scientists told a conference in Washington that they plan to begin the process of cloning humans in the next few months to help infertile couples.
