A Garda who pleaded guilty to harassing his former lover has been jailed for three years at the Dublin Circuit Criminal Court. The abuse continued for a period of nine months
Austin Woods, with addresses in Cabra in Dublin, and Hackballscross in Louth, has also been ordered not to communicate with Colette Johnson for fifteen years. The judge recommended Woods, who is separated, and the father of two children, undergo counselling while in custody.
Woods, whom the court had heard had made more than 3,000 nuisance calls to Ms Johnson, and sent her obscene packages in the post, has since resigned from the Gardaí.
