Tension grows in Middle East

Tension in the Middle East is growing after an explosion in the West Bank town of Hebron last night. Israel has denied Palestinian claims that the attack had targeted the office of Palestinian President Yasser Arafat's Fatah faction but struck a house next door in error.

An Israeli military source said that the explosion might have occurred during the preparation of a bomb which detonated accidentally. The explosion happened while Israel continued its search for a group of Jewish militants who shot and killed three Palestinians late on Thursday. One of the victims was a three-month-old baby.
