Coca-Cola has denied that it was connected with any human rights violation against bottle workers or unions in Colombia. The United Steel Workers Union and the International Labor Rights Fund yesterday filed a lawsuit against the soft-drink manufacturer and its main bottling company in Latin America, Panamerican Beverages.
In the lawsuit, it is alleged that the company in Colombia hired right-wing paramilitaries to kidnap, torture and kill union leaders there. The two organisations want to see the end of these alleged practices.
