A judge in Galway Circuit Court has said he that has concerns over medical and psychiatric treatment being received in the United States by a Mexican who has been convicted of sexually assaulting six women here. 39-year-old Joseph Stone of Roswell, New Mexico who committed the offences while he was working as a chiropractor in Galway last year appeared for sentence in the circuit court in the city today.
The court was given a report on the treatment Mr Stone was receiving at a clinic in the USA. After a number of questions were raised as to the qualifications of the consultant there Judge Carl Moran adjourned sentencing until tomorrow so that further information on Mr Stone's treatment for bi-polar affective disorder could be attained. Mr Stone sexually assaulted the women in the course of treatment sessions for back pain at his Galway clinic between July 1999 and March of 2000.
