London High Court to decide fate of “Internet twins”

The future of the so-called “Internet twins” in Britain is to be considered by the High Court in London next week. The baby girls, who were bought by a British couple in America through an Internet adoption agency, are now in the care of social services in North Wales having been taken from the couple last night.

Earlier today the couple vowed to challenge a decision by social workers to seize the twin baby girls from them. Judith Kilshaw said that it was "sheer hell" as police and social workers dramatically swooped on a north Wales hotel last night and took the twin sisters from the couple.

A police spokesman said that an emergency protection order was served on Alan and Judith Kilshaw, who claim to have lawfully adopted the twins through a broker in the United States over the Internet. An American couple claims they had already agreed to adopt the babies. At a news conference in the hotel afterwards, the Kilshaws said that they were confident that they could gain legal custody of the girls. But Judith Kilshaw said that they were disappointed with the lack of support they had received in Britain.
