British Airways today admitted responsibility for allowing a crazed man to board a packed passenger jet. The man came within seconds of destroying after storming into the cockpit and trying to grab the controls. Paul Mukonyi, 27, demanded to see police officers at Gatwick Airport before the flight to the Kenyan capital, Nairobi, because he was confused.
Following a short interview he was escorted to his seat after it was decided that he was a nervous flyer. A few hours into the flight, Mr Mukonyi stormed the cockpit and lunged for the controls, causing the jet to plunge 10,000ft in a series of nosedives as he struggled with the crew.
