The Flood Tribunal has heard that up to £300,000 passed through Isle of Man bank accounts held by Maeve McManus, in the late 1980s and early '90s. Ms McManus was the assistant to a former director of Century Radio, Oliver Barry, and was on a basic gross salary of £225 per week at the time. She told the Tribunal that the money was from bonus payments she received, but she denied there was ever that amount of money in her accounts.
Ms McManus is being questioned about her knowledge of the payment of £35,000 by Mr Barry to Ray Burke. Earlier, the final stage of the Gogarty module of the Flood Tribunal was adjourned for a week. Lawyers for the Murphys, Baileys and Ray Burke had sought an adjournment to January. Mr justice Flood said that he had already granted extensions of time for written submissions and would only adjourn matters for a week. Oral submissions will now take place on 20 January.
