Medical Council begins inquiry into former Drogheda gynae

A committee of the Medical Council has begun an inquiry into the work of a former gynaecologist at a Drogheda hospital. Dr Michael Neary resigned last year after concern was expressed about the abnormally high number of caesarean hysterectomies he had performed at our Lady of Lourdes Hospital in Drogheda. The inquiry is being held in private, despite requests from former patients to have it heard in public.
