Man injured in explosion undergoes surgery

A 29-year-old man whose leg was badly injured in a bomb explosion this morning near Larne has been undergoing surgery in hospital. Loyalist paramilitaries are being blamed for the attack. The blast took place on a path near the Belfast to Larne railway line at Maghearmourne. It is understood one of the man's companions, a Catholic man from Larne, had previously been targeted by Loyalist paramilitaries and his uncle was shot dead by the UFF seven years ago. The RUC chief constable, Sir Ronnie Flanagan, has condemned the attack.
