Iranian boxer disqualified from Olympics

An Iranian boxer has become the latest athlete to be disqualified from the Olympic Games for failing a drugs test. The International Amateur Boxing Association said that Anosheravan Nourian, a light-welterweight, had tested positive for the banned steroid nandrolone.

His expulsion follows a decision earlier today to disqualify the entire Romanian weightlifting team after three of their members were found to have taken banned substances. The International Olympic Committee added that another nine "problematic" results had been recorded in out-of-competition tests. At least one other athlete under suspicion remains at the Games.
