A Spanish army officer has been shot dead in the northern Basque city of Pamplona in another attack, apparently by the Basque separatist group, ETA. Two car bombs yesterday in Madrid and Bilbao left one man dead and eleven other people injured. Four suspected ETA members were killed on Monday night when, it is thought, a bomb they were transporting went off.
