The Minister for Justice has reiterated the Government's stance that the killers of Garda Jerry McCabe will not be released under the prisoner release programme of the Good Friday Agreement. John O'Donoghue was speaking in Galway at a function this afternoon.
Earlier this week, the Sinn Féin President said that, although the release would be painful for many, the five men should be freed because they qualified under the terms of the Agreement. Gerry Adams added that he would be asking the Government to review its position on the matter.
