Police in southern England have not yet confirmed that the body of a young girl found earlier today is that of Sarah Payne, the eight-year-old who has been missing for 16 days. The body was found in West Sussex, about ten miles from where she was last seen. A member of the public discovered the body in bushes near an agricultural college. It was lying face down and was partially covered. It is understood that the body has been taken to a mortuary where a post-mortem examination will take place in the next few days. Sarah's parents have been informed.
