A Dublin solicitor has been given leave by the High Court to challenge an order made by the Flood Tribunal to reveal the name of his clients. Stephen Miley, who represents the company, Jackson Way Properties, had refused to reveal the names of the company's owners But Mr Justice Frederick Morris allowed the solicitor to challenge this order on the basis that the Tribunal did not give sufficient details of the reasons for making the order.
The builder Michael Bailey has apologised to the Flood Tribunal for the way in which the accounts of his company, Bovale Developments, were kept. He added that the company is doing everything to ensure that money outstanding will be paid in full to the Revenue Commissioners. It emerged that hundreds of thousands of pounds had been paid from Bovale Developments to the directors, but were not recorded as such in the company's books.
Mr Bailey gave details about lodgements of cheques from his company, Bovale Developments, to his personal bank accounts. From June 1989 until June 1991, the payments paid into his personal accounts totalled £118,000. Michael Bailey was first mentioned by James Gogarty in connection with a payment to Ray Burke. He has been dragged further into the plot by George Redmond's allegations. The former Assistant City and County Manager claims that Michael Bailey paid him 20,000. Michael Bailey denies this.
