The former Dublin Assistant City and County Manager, George Redmond, has been fined £7,500 at the Dublin Circuit Criminal Court for failing to make tax returns. Mr Redmond had pleaded guilty to ten charges of failing to make returns between 1988 and 1998. Judge Frank O'Donnell said that he was taking into account Mr Redmond's guilty plea, his co-operation with the Gardaí, payment of all the sums due, his age, and his health. After the short hearing, 75-year-old Mr Redmond said that he was very contrite.
