230 feared dead in Ugandan cult mass suicide

Up to 230 members of a Ugandan Doomsday cult have set themselves alight in the world's second-biggest ritual mass suicide. Police say followers of the obscure "Ten Commandments of God" sect, gathered in a church three hundred kilometres southwest of the capital, Kampala having sold off their possessions under the instructions of their leader. It is reported that the cult members, which included children, set themselves on fire after several hours of chanting and singing. Police said they were having difficulty counting the bodies which were burned beyond recognition.
