Body of baby found in North Cork

Gardaí say they believe the body of a new born baby discovered on waste ground near the North Cork village of Rylane may have been left there within the past week. The body was found at lunchtime today by a man who was walking his dog in the area. Gardaí were alerted and are currently conducting a technical examination of the scene.

The Assistant State Pathologist Dr Marie Cassidy has been called in and will conduct a post mortem examination on the body at Cork University Hospital. The body has been removed from the scene. The examination of the area is continuing.
