Doctors treating former Manchester United and Northern Ireland soccer star George Best for a liver complaint say his condition is not life-threatening. The former footballer has shown signs of improvement and is expected to make a substantial recovery. Best was admitted to hospital in London earlier this week after collapsing with stomach pains. A newspaper report today claimed that Best, who is 53, had suspected liver failure and was undergoing tests.
Best was taken into hospital earlier this week suffering from pains in his abdomen. He was released but was admitted again last night to the private Cromwell Hospital in West London. Mr Best's agent has denied that he was rushed to the London hospital two days ago, saying that he went there by appointment. He is expected to spend a number of days in hospital under close observation.
