War Crimes Tribunal sentences former Bosnian Croat Genera

The International War Crimes Tribunal in The Hague has sentenced a former Bosnian Croat General to 45 years in prison. The court found him guilty of orchestrating an ethnic cleansing campaign against Muslims during the 1992-1995 war.

General Tihomir Blaskic, the most senior officer to come before the court, was found guilty on all but one of the 20 counts he was charged with. The court said that the 39-year-old played a key role in one of the most notorious incidents in the Lasva Valley, when his forces murdered 100 villagers in Ahmici in April 1993.
