An Indian Airlines plane hijacked after take off from Nepal is tonight on its way to Dubai in the Gulf, following refuelling in India and Pakistan. The five hijackers had intended to land at the Afghan capital Kabul, but there are no night-landing facilities there. Earlier, the hijackers shot dead four of the passengers. The plane, carrying 189 people, was en route from Katmandu to New Delhi when it was hijacked. It landed briefly at Amritsar in India, before continuing to the Pakistani city of Lahore where it was refuelled. Nationals of twelve countries, including Swiss, Spaniards, a Belgian, Canadians and Japanese, are among the hostages.
