Former Irish national swimming coach 52-year-old Derry O'Rourke appeared before Judge Liam Malone at Kilmainham District Court this afternoon in connection with 59 new sex abuse charges.
O'Rourke is currently serving a 12-year-jail sentence following his conviction last year on 29 sample charge of sex abuse against 11 young girls.
Today's court appearance is in relation to new charges of sex abuse against six girls alleged to have taken place at a Dublin swimming club dating back some 30 years. In relation to the new charges the judge remanded O'Rourke in custody to appear before Kilmainham District Court this day week.
