The extradition here of former Dublin investment broker, Tony Taylor, has been held up pending proceedings at the High Court in England, where Taylor has lodged a writ of habeas corpus. Taylor was arrested a fortnight ago in Eastbourne. He had been missing since his company collapsed three years earlier.
Gardaí are seeking his extradition on foot of 15 warrants relating to a number of crimes, including fraud, forgery and false pretences. An extradition order was granted by Brighton Magistrates Court. The extradition hearings have now been halted pending the outcome of the High Court proceedings.
