Three arrested following workplace prank

Three men have been arrested following a workplace prank that left a man in a critical condition. The 19-year-old student was working for the summer at Grainger's Sawmills in Enniskeane last Friday, when the alleged attack took place. He was allegedly held down by other workers, stripped naked and had an air-hose inserted into his anal-passage.

He was found half-an-hour later and rushed to Cork University Hospital with severe internal injuries including a suspected torn colon. This morning, three men in their teens and twenties were arrested under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act and taken to Bandon Garda Station. The men are being questioned for an offence committed under the Non-Fatal Offences Against the Person Act. The condition of the man at University Hospital has been described as stable.
