Man charged with assaulting Italian tourist last week

A 29-year-old man has been charged at Dublin District Court with assaulting an Italian student at Fairview Park in Dublin last week. James Osborne, of 7 Forth Road in East Wall, Dublin, was charged under section 3 of the Non-fatal Offences against the Persons Act. He appeared in the District Court this morning having been charged in Contarf Garda station yesterday evening.

When charged the accused said, "I'm sorry it happened". Mr. Osborne was remanded on bail to appear in court again on the 13 August. He was ordered to report to Store Street Garda station three times per week. 17-year-old Guido Nasi, a student in Turin, is still critically ill in Hospital after he was hit over the head with a bottle at Fairview Park in Dublin. A 19-year-old man, who was also held in connection with the assault, was released without charge last night.

In a separate case, three men are due before Dublin District Court on Tuesday next in connection with the robbery of two young Italian men in Blessington Street in Dublin yesterday.
