Francis Stuart libel action settled

A libel action taken by the writer Francis Stuart against the Irish Times has been settled. In the High court today, senior counsel for the Irish Time, Mr John Gordon, said the newspaper had made certain remarks in its Irishman's Diary column which suggested that Mr Suart was anti-semitic.

The Irish times now accepted that Mr Stuart had never expressed anti-semitism in his writings or otherwise and regretted the publication of an impression to the contrary. Outside the court, Mr Stuart said the outcome of the action had redeemed him.
