High Court to decide whether Tribunal had authority to as

The High Court has been asked to decide whether the Flood Tribunal had the authority to ask the Criminal Assets Bureau to hand over documents it seized from the former Dublin Assistant City and County Manager, George Redmond. Senior Counsel for the CAB said that Redmond had been arrested in February at Dublin Airport by CAB officers and substantial cheques and other documents were seized.

More documents was seized at his home under a search warrant issued to the CAB. The Tribunal, which is investigating planning matters, asked for and was refused the seized material. The hearing is expected to last two days.
