RUC seize bomb parts in County Antrim

RUC officers investigating recent attacks by loyalist militants have seized bomb parts and explosives at a house in Larne in County Antrim. One person was arrested during searches in which component parts of three pipe-bombs were found. The Assistant Chief Constable for the area Alan Mc Quillan said the devices recovered were similar to those used in recent attacks.

Meanwhile, a post mortem examination on the body of a man found in Antrim has shown that he had suffered serious head injuries as a result of a violent assault. The RUC have begun a murder inquiry. The body of 50-year-old retired teacher Noel Martin was discovered in after a fire at a premises at Barra Street. An RUC spokesman said detectives were keeping an open mind as to the motive for the attack.
