Judge to chair Commission on Childhood Abuse

High Court judge Ms Justice Mary Laffoy is to chair the recently announced Commission on Childhood Abuse. She will be joined on the commission by child psychiatrist Dr Imelda Ryan, who runs the child sexual abuse unit at Our Lady's Hospital in Crumlin and by the former director of Social Services in Stockport in England, Mr Bob Lewis. Announcing the three names, the Minister for Education Micheal Martin said it was envisaged that within three months they would make initial recommendations to the government on the commission's powers and terms of reference.
