Gardaí rule out foul play in Cork deaths

Gardaí in Cork investigating the deaths of an elderly couple at the village of Ballinacurra near Midleton say they are now satisfied nobody else was involved.

It is believed that the woman, 70-year old Celia Barrett, may have drowned. Her partner, 65-year old Patrick Kingston, died of natural causes after collapsing when he went to raise the alarm. The two were found dead near their home after ten o clock last night.

Gardaí came to the scene when they were notified by a neighbour of the couple, who received a telephone call from the man before he collapsed and died. Both bodies were found outside the house.
