Police sources in Britain have said that an explosion in the Brixton area of South London tonight is not believed to be connected to paramilitary groups in the North. Around nine people including a policeman were injured in the blast, which happened outside a supermarket on the Brixton road. A spokesman for Scotland Yard said that bomb-disposal officers, a police helicopter and all the emergency services were at the incident on the Brixton road.
