The Flood Tribunal has heard that the former Assistant Dublin County Manager, George Redmond, has given a new statement to the Tribunal in recent weeks. Counsel for the Tribunal, John Gallagher, said that the statement has been furnished since Mr. Gogarty finished giving his direct evidence four weeks ago.
He said that Mr. Redmond now says he met Mr. Gogarty twice at Clontarf and at the second meeting, he alleges that Mr. Gogarty gave him £25,000 in cash. In his earlier statement to the Tribunal, Mr. Redmond had denied any such meeting took place.
Mr. Gogarty said that he rejected completely the suggestion that he ever handed any sum of money to Mr Redmond. Mr Gogarty said he believed that Joseph Murphy Jnr. had handed an envelope to George Redmond, which he believed contained £15,000.
