You can buy very good meatballs in any shop that are already made up, but here is the recipe I use and it's very easy.
Ingredients
For the meat balls:
- 500g minced beef
- 1 onion, diced
- 3 tablespoons of tomato ketchup
- 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
- Handful of parsley/ tarragon and basil.
- 1 egg
- 1/2 teaspoon of sea salt.
Tomato sauce:
- 2 onion diced
- 1 tsp salt
- 50g tomato purée
- 2 Tins of chopped tomato
- 600ml beef stock
- 4tbsp Worcestershire sauce
- 2 tsp Dijon mustard
For the garlic bread:
- 1 crusty baguette
- 200g soft butter
- 1 garlic clove crushed
- 4 sprigs parsley
Method
For the meat balls:
- Mix all ingredients together and form equal size balls.
- Colour the meat balls in a hot pan, or place the meatballs on a tray and pour a little oil and place in a hot oven at 220 for 15 minutes stirring regularly.
Tomato sauce:
- Heat vegetable oil in a medium saucepan, add the onions and salt and cook for 7-8 minutes. Add the tomato purée and cook out for about 3 minutes. Add all the rest of ingredients and simmer for 25 minutes.
- Place the meatballs in a baking dish, cut up buffalo mozzarella in large pieces, and place in between the meatballs.
- Pour over your tomato sauce and sprinkle with grated cheese.
- Bake in oven at 180 for 20 minutes.
For the garlic bread:
- Mix the butter, garlic and parsley.
- Cut the bread into slices and spread the butter, Put into the oven with the bake 10minutes to go.
- Serve together.
