Watch: More balance training at home

ExWell Medical is an established chronic illness rehabilitation programme that has recently launched its home-based programme. Each week on RTÉ LifeStyle, the team are sharing a series of workouts that can be done at home - no equipment necessary.

In our video today, Sarah from ExWell Medical takes us through a balance circuit, with more advanced exercise to help challenge our balance. You can watch the first balance tutorial here

Balance is a fundamental component of training and is an essential part of exercise that helps strengthen our lower limbs and core. Balance training is important as it can help reduce falls and other related injuries.

For this circuit, you will need a chair and a wall to maintain your balance. Each exercise should be repeated, 10 times, on both legs. Repeat the circuit up to 2-3 times for more benefits. Remember to have a gentle warm-up done before undertaking any exercise.

These exercises are suitable for all ages and capabilities but are particular suited for those who are living with chronic illnesses or may be cocooning at this time.
