One of the top television events of the year, there was no doubt that Room to Improve: Dermot's Home would bring the laughs, tears (if only of frustration) and plenty of inspiration. The special two-part series followed celebrity architect Dermot Bannon as he renovated his 1930's Drumcondra home, bringing together his most ambitious and visionary ideas yet.

What we got, however, was a stunning story of family, friendship, creativity and the chaos that can ensue when you start chasing something you want. From Dermot and Diarmuid having a chat in a bath, to Quantity Surveyor Patricia Power's shock at Dermot's shed plans, and of course Dermot's tearful tribute to his late father, it was a roller coaster of a show.
When you literally open the doors to your home to the nation, you can expect some hot takes. Here are the best Twitter reactions to Dermot's dream home and the odyssey it took to make it.

The most parent thing
Dermot, letting his children make their own mark on the house with the stone only to tell them it's the wrong mark, is the most parent thing to have ever parented. #roomtoimprove

I want the bees here
"Look I messed up, I released a swarm of 600 bees into the house and I didn't realize they would affect everyone’s work. And look what’s done is done and it’s going to be more difficult but we’ll just build around the bees. I want the bees here"#roomtoimprove

Family, am I right?
What a legend Dermot's brother is, telling the whole nation about them thinking there was something wrong with him as he preferred to sit in his room building houses with straight edges & loving Bucks Fizz & was devastated when their tour bus crashed 😂🤣😂🤣😂 #roomtoimprove
