Run with Ray

Get stretching, Radio 1 listeners! Ray D'Arcy is on a mission to get the country running with his new campaign, ‘Run with Ray’. We caught up with the presenter earlier today to discuss the physical and mental benefits of running - watch him in the video above.

Where and when
From June 10th-14th, Ray will be broadcasting from Ballincollig in Cork, Limerick City, New Ross in Wexford, Kilcock, Co. Kildare, and St. Anne’s Park in Dublin from 3pm to 4.30pm. After the show, the running enthusiast will then join the starting line in each community as they sign up to the campaign.

Using already established routes from Parkrun Ireland, each run will begin at 6pm. And it’s not all about the adults; Ray will also visit one local primary school in each location as he joins them in their Daily Mile!

Get the plan
Over the next six weeks on The Ray D’Arcy Show, our host will be joined by runners and non-runners as they prepare to run 5K. With the support and encouragement from friends of the show, Ray will be asking listeners to follow a plan which he will share both on air and online that will help you get over the finish line.

Not only that but Ray will also be hosting a special weekly running podcast to encourage communities to get outdoors and offline.

Call in
In the lead up to the week of June 10th, listeners will be invited to share their 'Couch to 5K' stories on air. Listen to RTÉ Radio 1 every Tuesday from 3-4:30pm to hear from expert running coach Mary Jennings on how you can prepare for a 5K.
