In RTÉ One's new show, The Borrowers, we step inside what could be considered the most secretive room in Ireland – the Credit Union loan office.

Each week, viewers get unprecedented insight into the lives of people who pin hopes, dreams, and aspirations on loans from the Credit Union. And with over 350 offices dotted across the country, it's inevitable that we'll meet some interesting characters along the way.

There’s a story behind every loan and in this series, we meet the people who borrow money for all sorts of reasons, from family reunions to new cars, houses, cosmetic procedures, and shopping sprees.

On tonight's episode, the twists and turns continue as Linda and her mother Kathe plan a cruise to ring in Kathe's 80th birthday. The self-titled 'glamorous granny' says the secret to her good looks and health is "going to bed early every night."

The real star of tonight's show, however, is Konor the Clown who visits Waterford's Credit Union to request a loan for an upcoming trip to Valencia, Spain, where his son lives.

"After I paid all the bills for Christmas, I'm waiting for a few gigs to come in," he explained.

Unfortunately, being self-employed can have its downsides and Konor will need a particular set of accounts to be approved for this loan.

Tune in to The Borrowers tonight at 8:30pm on RTÉ One to find out how he gets on.
