Dermot Bannon is selling his Drumcondra home and there is enormous interest in his three-bed terraced home, complete with one of his signature extensions.
The house has beautiful wooden floors, a big garden, good natural light, wonderful real fireplaces throughout and other great features such as two sitting rooms but considering that the nation look to Dermot for inspirations on all things home renovation, it is a modest home.
Dermot lives with his wife Louise (who works in his company, Dermot Bannon Architects) and their three children: Sarah (12), James (8) and Tom (4). The house has a large south-facing garden but they have been contemplating a move for a couple of years.
"It’s a bit like the cobbler’s shoes are always the worst," he told the RTÉ Guide.
"I’m not great at fixing my own home!"
He also told VIP magazine: "My son the other day said to me, 'Dad you can't be a celebrity'. And I said, 'Why?' And he said, 'Look at our house!' So, yeah cobbler's shoes...I keep pushing it further and further down the line because when I go home it's the last thing I want to think about. I just want to sit on the couch and think about nothing."
His home is being sold by Douglas Newman Good and they are describing it as: "A simply beautiful family home complimented by a wonderfully designed extension to the rear overlooking a mature west facing garden extending in excess of 65m. DNG are delighted to present this substantial family residence in this most desirable location in the ever popular surrounds of Bantry Road."
