Last night on Dancing with the Stars, the nation's beloved Marty Morrissey left the dance floor after losing in the dance-off against Alannah Beirne.

Marty's rumba routine to Chris de Burgh's Lady in red was a hit with the judges and audience alike but in the end, all three judges voted to keep Alannah in the competition.

Ever the gentleman, Marty gave a tear-jerking speech as he left the show thanking the judges, cast, crew, and most importantly his dance partner Ksenia.

We spoke with Marty after the show to find out if he would continue to dance and whether the #MartyParty would continue on social media. Watch our interview with the RTÉ Sport broadcaster above.

Speaking on his friendship with Ksenia, Marty explained that it was a daunting experience to meet the pro-dancer but that they hit it off in record time.

"We were literally filming the promo and we just went from there and we got to know each other and from the end of November - and this is the end of February - we've been constantly in each other's company"

While Marty admitted that it was a bit of a shock to be out of the competition, he was delighted to have lasted eight out of the twelve weeks and says that he plans to keep dancing with Ksenia.

"When I get a chance I'll do a bit of learning with her and practicing with her and yeah, I'd like to keep active because I lost a stone and a bit over the last two months and I wouldn't mind losing another bit."

The #MartyParty took over social media every Sunday night during the show and Marty insists he will keep up his social media presence.

"I'm going to keep it up. I'm going to have time to go on Instagram and Twitter now because up til now I was hardly able to do it."

Looking back at eight weeks on Dancing with the Stars, would Marty do it all again if he had the chance? "In a heartbeat". Watch our interview in full above.
