To celebrate International Women's Day, we're sharing six of our favourite ad campaigns that work to celebrate and empower women.
This may come as a shock, but most women don't actually spend their time dancing around in white dresses eating yoghurt and horseback riding every month. What's more, their bodies don't produce a weird blue liquid. Bodyform have created an ad that shares the world's best-kept secret - women bleed.
2. Like a Girl
Research shows that sports are a fantastic way to build confidence and yet, half of young girls will drop out of playing their chosen sport because they feel like they don't belong. Always are on a mission to change society's views of what playing "like a girl" really means.
3. This Girl Can
This Girl Can is an initiative started by Sport England that celebrates women of all ages getting involved in sport and exercise. The aim of the campaign is to "help women overcome the fear of judgement that is stopping too many women and girls from joining in."
4. Until We All Win
You can always depend on Nike for a good motivational video and their latest 'Until We All Win' campaign doesn't disappoint. Featuring Serena Williams, a prominent athlete and women of colour, this 30-second video will give you chills.
5. Princess Machine
GoldieBlox is the toy that teaches girls to become engineers through story-telling, apps, videos, and merchandise. Founded in 2012 by Debbie Sterling, this toy is "disrupting the pink aisle in toy stores" and challenging gender stereotypes across the globe. Needless to say, both the toy and it's ad campaigns have gained traction...
6. The Camp Gyno
With 11,922,344 views, this HelloFlo commercial has been an undeniable hit. The reason for its success? It dared to be different by actually using the words 'period' and 'menstruation' in an ad about tampons. Madness.
