Anyone watching Dancing with the Stars last night was left in little doubt about the fact that Dr Eva Orsmond has a new health-focused TV show, Medication Nation and that it's on RTÉ One tonight.
She may have been smiling when she was shamelessly plugging the new lifestyle programme after her Mary-Poppins-inspired performance on the show last night but she takes the subject of Medication Nation very seriously.
"Irish people love their pills", Dr Eva points out in the programme and she's right. Every year we spend €500 for every man, woman and child in Ireland on pharmaceuticals - that's 40% higher than the EU average.
She also believes: "There is a widespread abuse of over the counter pain medication," which she says "...is coming at a cost to our physical and mental health."
Since 2000 the number of prescribed drugs we are consuming has grown from €32 million to €73.5 million items in 2015. Drugs can undoubtedly bring great benefits, but there are also risks.
Dr Eva talks to a number of people about the issue including former Government press secretary Shane Kenny, who was prescribed the sedative Valium for a hearing condition. He suffered from severe withdrawal symptoms, which he says have destroyed his life.
The goal of the documentary?
Dr Eva wants to make us all question our relationship with drugs to see if they are doing more harm than good.
Medication Nation is on RTÉ One tonight, Monday January 30 at 9.35pm.
