Over the past few months, Irish restaurants and cafés have blown us away with their ingenuity, hard work, and perseverance. Under stressful circumstances, many have managed to adapt to various levels of restrictions by bringing their venues outdoor or making their menus available for takeaway and collection.

Many have gone above and beyond, but some of the true stars are those creating take-home boxes filled with delicious platters, mouthwatering ingredients, and ready-made cocktails*.

Here's our round-up of just some of the best places to pick up a take-home box in Dublin.

Smokin Bones
In 2014, Gerrard O'Farrell started his barbeque venture, Smokin Bones, at the first Big Grill festival at Herbert Park. Now located in two Dublin locations - Temple Bar and Eden Quay - the smokey spot serves up North Carolina pulled pork, baby back ribs, smoked brisket, and much more.

Making deliveries to Dublin, Kildare, and Meath on Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays, the restaurant is now bringing authentic 'low-n-slow' cooking to your doorstep with their 'BBQ in a Box'. Feeding 4-6 people, the food is delivered chilled so you can reheat and serve at a time that suits you.

777
In 2006, restaurant owner John Farrell sold his stock in Dublin's Il Primo in order to gather funds to kickstart his Ranelagh restaurant, Dillinger's. From there, he launched a number of casual eateries including The Butcher's Grill, Italian-themed Super Miss Sue, and Mexican restaurant 777.

The trendy George Street spot is known for its tangy margaritas, crispy tostadas, and electric atmosphere. Unfortunately, we can't guarantee the atmosphere, but with #777atHOME you can pick up a dinner kit and ready-made cocktails to be served up in your kitchen.

You can collect from 777 in town or Dillinger's in Ranelagh. They also have limited delivery in the Dublin area on Fridays. Orders made before 10am will be delivered on Friday between 2pm and 7pm.

Pitt Bro's BBQ
Founded by best friends David Stone and Stephen O'Reilly, Pitt Bro's BBQ serves up mouth-watering pulled pork, shredded beef, buttermilk chicken, crispy onion rings, and sweet buns made especially for the restaurant by Moore Street's Paris Bakery.

With two locations in Dublin - Georges Street and Wellington Quay - the BBQ spot is now offering up at-home dinner kits to be delivered to your door each Thursday and Friday ahead of the weekend's feast-ivities.

Ranging from a €20 Pitt Bros Student Box to a €75 Pitt Bros Meat Feat, there's sure to be something for everyone... except, perhaps, any vegans in your household.

Clanbrassil House
Chef Proprietor Barry Fitzgerald and his partner Claire-Marie Thomas launched Clanbrassil House, a beautiful eatery in Dublin 8, following the success of Portobello's Bastible.

Adapting to Covid-19 restrictions, the restaurant is now offering a decadent menu - including Côte De Boeu, Iberico Pork Presa, and Chicken Liver Parfait - to take away and enjoy in the comfort of your own home. Perfect for celebrating a special occasion at home.

Pick up your order at the door of the restaurant from 3pm to 7pm on Friday and Saturday.

Uno Pizza
Located in Rathmines, UNO Pizza is known for its heavenly dough-filled menu. Now, thanks to their at-home kits, you can get all the ingredients to make your very own Neapolitan, Margherita, or Diavola pizza at home.

Ingredients include dough balls, fior di latte mozzarella, san marzano tomato sauce, parmigiano reggiano, fresh basil, virgin olive oil, and more. The kits come with simple instructions to follow and all you need along with the kit is a frying pan and grill or oven.

Baste x Sprezzatura
Portobello's BBQ joint Baste has joined forces with Camden Market's Italian hotspot Sprezzatura to create Baste x Sprezzatura. This takeaway dinner for two costs €50 and is available from Friday - Sunday so you must order by midnight the night before you want yours.

The foodie feast includes tartine, rye sourdough loaf, toons bridge stracciatella with charcoal salt, hot smoked Irish gaucho sausage, honey vinaigrette, smoked vine tomatoes, fresh pappardelle, oak-smoked beef cheek ragu, and more.
