Happy National Fish & Chips Day and to celebrate many chippers around the country are selling theirs at half price.
We all know we're on course to become the fattest nation in Europe by 2030 - something we all want tp avoid so we're not advocating that everyone rushes out every day to eat fried, fatty foods.
I interviewed UCD professor Dr Carel le Roux for The LifeStyle Show podcast and after listening to his predictions and advice around obesity, I'm more aware than ever before about watching what myself and my kids are eating. With that in mind though - it is all about balance.
What we are saying is that today is officially National Fish & Chips Day and if you are due a treat, cheat meal, as part of a balanced diet than this is the perfect day to do it as many chippers are doing half price offers.
To celebrate the ninth National Fish and Chips Day the Irish Traditional Italian Chippers Association (ITICA) are offering customers half price fish and chips.
"We look forward to ITICA National Fish & Chips Day every year," said Peter Borza, chairman, Irish Traditional Italian Chippers Association (ITICA).
"It is a hectic but fun-filled day that gives us the opportunity to celebrate 129 years of the ‘one and one’ and most importantly to thank our local communities for their ongoing support.
"We established ITICA back in January 2010 to highlight the heritage behind the Irish Italian chippers in Ireland, and emphasise what makes our family run chippers unique.
"The response each ITICA National Fish & Chips Day over the past three years has been amazing and we hope that everyone will join in again this year."
