It's Toy Show week and we know everyone is looking forward to tuning in to RTÉ One and RTÉ Player at 9.35pm this Friday. But, while we are waiting, let's look back on some all-time Late Late Toy Show moments from the RTÉ Archives. Just press on the images to see them now!
Press play up top to watch Gay Byrne, Pat Kenny and Ryan Tubridy make their entrances. This compilation is full of toys that do all kinds of amazing things, a toy that collapses when it's touched and a bit of cheek from Zig and Zag and Dustin.
The Late Late Show was first presented by Gay Byrne. Pat Kenny replaced Gay Byrne as the presenter in 1999 and remained in that position for 10 years. Ryan Tubridy was the next one to host the programme and he was in the presenter's chair until 2023. The current presenter of The Late Late Show is Patrick Kielty, who took over in 2023, and he will host the show this Friday!

Not everything goes to plan for Ryan Tubridy and a young helper trying out some of the popular toys this year. Being a volunteer tester on The Late Late Toy Show is a dream for many a child. There can however be pitfalls to demonstrating toys on live television as five year old Cassandra Bridgeman discovered.
Along with toys that do not do what they are supposed to presenter Ryan Tubridy finds a toy kitchen especially trying.

This is a Late Late Toy Show favourite! Look back to 1991, when Zig and Zag soak Gay Byrne with a water pistol.
The puppet aliens Zig and Zag along with friend Dustin the Turkey demonstrate some toys including a builders tool kit and truck. The three puppets surprise Gay Byrne by soaking him with a water pistol. The presenter takes his revenge by turning the water pistol on the audience.

At the age of 12, Harry Potter star Evanna Lynch appeared on the Late Late Toy Show where she showed Pat Kenny some jewellery she has made.
Evanna describes how to use the 'Bling Bling Bead Set' and a 'Jewellery Set'. Evanna gives both toys 9 out of 10 for entertainment value. In 2006 at the age of 15 Evanna auditioned for the role as Luna Lovegood for the Harry Potter series of films and got the role!
