A letter from the Irish Famine

In this video, historian Ciarán Reilly shares a letter from the Lucas Clements collection at NUI Maynooth, in which a desperate man called Philip Lynch begs for help for his family. It's one of several hundred letters and petitions from the collection that were written during the Famine. You can find out more about Ireland during the Famine here, and see more documents from the time in the Famine Distress Papers from the National Archives here.
