If a lyric like "No-one these days says 'thank you' when you open doors for them anymore" leaves you nostalgic for times gone by, then the music behind it here will have you convinced that you've stumbled on some portal back to the golden age of singer-songwriters.

Two years on from his 'Hotel Room' EP creating a set of devotees, Wicklow's Fionn Regan should prepare himself for the snowball effect once word gets around about his debut album.

Handling production duties himself, Regan has created an enchanting set of songs which mark him out as a sublime new voice and an acoustic guitarist with his own style. The highlights are many - providing you manage to get past the brilliance of second song 'The Underwood Typewriter' this side of Christmas.

A standout record - in this or any other year.
