Michael Fassbender returns in David Fincher's The Killer

The first trailer for the Michael Fassbender-starring The Killer has been released ahead of the David Fincher-directed thriller's world premiere at the Venice Film Festival on Sunday 3 September and its arrival on Netflix on Friday 10 November.

The synopsis reads: "After a fateful near-miss, an assassin battles his employers, and himself, on an international manhunt he insists isn't personal."

The cast also includes Charles Parnell, Arliss Howard, Sophie Charlotte, and Tilda Swinton.

The Killer is based on the graphic novel series of the same name written by Alexis Nolent (aka Matz) and illustrated by Luc Jacamon. The screenplay is by Andrew Kevin Walker, the writer of Fincher's iconic 1995 thriller Se7en.

Fassbender was last seen in 2019's X-Men adventure Dark Phoenix.

His upcoming films include Night Boat to Tangier, an adaptation of the Kevin Barry bestseller of the same name that also stars Domhnall Gleeson and Ruth Negga.

Night Boat to Tangier is directed by James Marsh, the director of the Oscar-winning The Theory of Everything and Man on Wire.

Author Barry has adapted his own book for the screen.
