London-Irish filmmaker McDonagh was honoured with Best Original Screenplay at the Royal Festival Hall; Condon and Keoghan won Best Supporting Actress and Actor, respectively, and the Banshees of Inisherin was named Best British Film - it was made by Film4, among others.
McDonagh lost out on Best Film and Best Director to All Quiet on the Western Front and its director, Edward Berger. All Quiet on the Western Front was the biggest winner of the night with seven BAFTAs. The Banshees of Inisherin had been shortlisted for ten, winning four.

"Making a sad film shouldn't be so much fun," said McDonagh as he received his screenplay award. McDonagh is already a multiple BAFTA winner for Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri and In Bruges. Dubliner Keoghan and Thurles' Condon are first-time BAFTA winners.
Accepting the Best British Film award later, McDonagh said: "I know every Irish person in the cast and crew are going 'best what?'"

Accepting his Best Supporting Actor award, Keoghan said he "should have planned this, really" before thanking his co-stars and Ireland. He also dedicated the award to children from the area he comes from in Dublin, Summerhill.
Taking to the stage, Condon paid tribute to writer-director McDonagh, adding: "Thank you for all the parts you gave me throughout my career. You make me so proud to be an Irish woman." She also thanked the "amazing cast" and her family as well as her horses and dogs.

The Banshees of Inisherin star Colin Farrell was shortlisted for Best Actor, but the award went to Elvis star Austin Butler. Farrell's co-star Brendan Gleeson had also been nominated for Best Supporting Actor for his performance in the dark comedy.

The hit Irish-language film An Cailín Ciúin (The Quiet Girl), an adaptation of the Claire Keegan book Foster, missed out in both its categories - Best Adapted Screenplay and Best Film Not in the English Language - to All Quiet on the Western Front.

There was further Irish interest in the Best Actor category with nominations for Daryl McCormack (Good Luck to You, Leo Grande) and Paul Mescal (Aftersun). McCormack was also nominated for the Rising Star Award, which went to Emma Mackey on the night.
Also among the nominees for Outstanding British Film was The Wonder; filmed in Ireland, adapted from Emma Donoghue's book of the same name, and with the Dublin-based Element Pictures and Fís Éireann/Screen Ireland among the producers.
