Ireland has enjoyed a record-breaking year at the Oscar nominations with The Banshees of Inisherin writer-director Martin McDonagh, the film's stars Kerry Condon, Colin Farrell, Brendan Gleeson and Barry Keoghan, Aftersun's Paul Mescal and An Cailín Ciúin among the Irish nominees.

The Banshees of Inisherin writer-director McDonagh is nominated for Best Picture, Best Director and Best Original Screenplay among his film's nine nominations. McDonagh is a previous Oscar winner for his short film Six Shooter.
Kerry Condon is nominated for Best Supporting Actress for her role in The Banshees of Inisherin.

Her co-star Colin Farrell is nominated for Best Actor for his performance in the dark comedy.
Brendan Gleeson and Barry Keoghan are both among the nominees for Best Supporting Actor for their work on The Banshees of Insiherin.

Paul Mescal joins Colin Farrell on the Best Actor shortlist for his performance in Aftersun. All the Irish actors are first-time Oscar nominees.

An Cailín Ciúin (The Quiet Girl) has been nominated for Best International Feature Film. The Irish box office hit from writer-director Colm Bairéad is the first film as Gaeilge to be nominated for Best International Feature Film - formerly Best Foreign Language Film. An Cailín Ciúin is based on the Claire Keegan book Foster.
Irish editor Jonathan Redmond is nominated for Best Editing for his work on Elvis.

Avatar: The Way of Water's Richard Baneham - an Oscar winner for his work on the original movie - is among the Best Visual Effects nominees.

The Northern Irish film An Irish Goodbye from Tom Berkeley and Ross White is among the nominees for Best Live-Action Short.
The genre-jumping Everything Everywhere All at Once leads the nominations with 11.
